Winter Olympics is one of the most sought after events in sports – next to Summer Olympics. There are many athletes who made their way to top and popularized the sport they are performing. 1. Bjorn Daehlie – Daehlie is distinct cross country skier. He was able to win 9 world championships and 8 Olympic titles. In the 1990’s he was the most dominant athlete. He has a total of 12 Olympic medals. Apart from the gold medals, he won four silver medals for the same sport where ne amassed the three different Olympics – the Lillehammer, Albertville, and Nagano. He is among the athletes who have the greatest success in the world championships. For the record he has 17 medals and nine of it was gold. It was in 1997 that he won medals in the different five events in cross country skiing.
2. Shaun Roger White – White is the professional American skateboarder and snow boarder. He regularly ride in a stance of twelve and negative degrees when he is on his board. He is known as the “The Flying Tomato” and “The Animal.” He was one of the participants of Winter X Games. He gained his medal since 2002. His medal counting is at 14 now – 9 gold, 3, silver, and 2 bronze. This countdown includes all the X Games he joined in 2009 and he is the first four-peat winner in a one discipline by the male athlete. It was the snowboard slope style. He was also named as the 9th best snowboarder in the world.
3. Lindsay Vonn – Vonn is an alpine ski racer from the United States Ski Team. She was first American woman to win the back to back overall championships in the World Cup in 2008 and 2009. She was also the first women to perform the Super G. She is considered to be the most successful American woman in the World Cup earning the 31 World Cup winnings in four different disciplines.
